Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

No Comments | Tags: , , , , , ,

Located on the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic, the Punta Cana area encompasses several communities–Arena Gorda, Bavaro, Uvero Alto, Cabeza de Toro, El Macao, Cap Cana and El Cortecito, among others–with a population of over 100,000 people.

The area’s spectacular white sand beaches and striking panoramic views of both the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean have made Punta Cana a popular tourist destination for people from all over the world, including large numbers of Europeans, Americans and denizens from other Caribbean islands and Latin America. The beaches, sans scores of people, extend for mile after picturesque mile, each more enchanting than the last.

One of the biggest draws to the area is the plethora of all-inclusive resorts, providing everything a guest could need or desire within its boundaries. Themes vary – some oriented towards couples, families, sports activities and so on, but there is something for everyone in every price range and level of amenities.

It is here that you will find the Majestic Resort encompassing two properties: the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana, for 18 and over only, and the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana, for couples and families, where six family members and I enjoyed a glorious week!

Usually when I stay in all-inclusive resorts, I venture outside of the resort at least once to learn about and enjoy the area (like the day we went to nearby Dolphin Island). However, I would have been perfectly happy to never leave!

The Majestic Colonial is one of the top-rated resorts in the area and it has absolutely everything: five themed restaurants, 11 bars, a casino, nightly shows (fabulous and appropriate for the entire family), daytime poolside parties, scuba lessons and water aerobics, a full-fitness facility, game area with ping pong, foosball and pool, kids club, numerous comfortable sitting areas throughout the property.

The spa is awesome, and in contrast to its island setting, it is Asian themed and features French products. There are separate men’s and women’s areas, steam rooms, saunas, a co-ed outdoor Jacuzzi reserved for spa guests only and a wide variety of wonderful face, hair and body treatments.

There is an excursions desk, non-motorized water sports huts on the beach, gorgeous landscaping, numerous shops, a 24-hour clinic and doctor on staff, chapel (services are Sunday evenings), 24-hour room service, basketball and tennis courts and an unbelievable, beautiful pool that extends the entire length of the property from the main building, meandering under bridges, around the central spa building, past the swim up bar and beach restaurant all the way to the beach.

The rooms are gorgeous, 600 suites and junior suites – ours with a sitting room, spacious Jacuzzi tub for two, oversized, marble shower, dual vanities and spacious balcony. The food is outstanding and the service is impeccable.

The only question is, when can I go back!
